Christopher Streader was trained by his father Don, a very highly respected piano tuner & craftsman, and commenced full time at Brashs Melbourne in 1975. Prior to full time training Christopher was educated at Melbourne High School and had private tuition in both piano and percussion. From his earliest memories pianos and music in general have been an integral part of his family life.
After completing his formal training Christopher founded his own business in 1978, specialising in piano tuning, servicing, repairs, he also contracts to other piano tuners, offering his expertise in repairs and restorations and total piano rebuilds.
Since that time he has worked professionally in the piano industry for numerous private clients, holds long term contracts with many large private and government schools, music teachers, television stations, music shops, churches and The Crown Melbourne Casino. He also consults with importers in respect to troubleshooting and product improvement.
He is an active member of the Piano Tuners & Technicians Guild Vic Inc (PTTGV) since 1981. Christopher achieved his Accreditation “ARPT” (Australasian Registered Piano Tuner) and has served on the committee in executive positions, presenting lectures and master classes, Christopher also served as a committee member of the Australasian Piano Tuners & Technicians Association (APTTA).
In 2017 Christopher was awarded “Life Membership” of the Piano Tuners & Technicians Guild Vic Inc (PTTGV) for outstanding service to the Guild and Industry.
Christopher is a strong believer in ongoing training and attends conventions and conferences regularly.
